Please welcome Carole Devillers, our first official Woman's News Reporter!

Carole says that "I think it's important to report on women cavers because, as in other fields such as writing, photography, exploration, adventure, women have a different view on things than men, and it will bring a different perspective on caving. It is also important for women, especially young women, to learn of other women's accomplishments in risk-taking activities and scientific endeavors, so that we inspire each other and realize that nothing is impossible for women. This Facebook page is a very good resource for that."

Here is a little about Carole (we are so lucky to have her): Carole Devillers is a photographer, writer, explorer, adventurer, caver, tour leader. Internationally published, she has to her credit several articles in National Geographic magazine and her photos in various books. For ten years she was Reuters News Pictures' photojournalist in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She is currently working on producing children's photo books for two Haitian publishing companies. She also organizes and leads her own photo tours to various parts of the world through her service Adventure Photo Expeditions. In 2009 she co-created an on-going long-term project of exploration, promotion and conservation of the caves of Haiti, for which she photographs. Originally from France, she has lived in Burkina Faso (West Africa), Haiti, French Guiana (Amazon forest) and the US (D.C., NM) and currently lives in Fort Lauderdale FL. She is a member of the National Speleological Society and the Tampa Bay Area Grotto.

Jessica Deli

Jessica Deli has been Central Region Coordinator for the NCRC since 2012 but before then she had already made her mark as a rescue specialist and cave conservationist all over the US. Deli has been involved with the National Cave Rescue Commission since 2005. With a simple Google search you will find her name everywhere participating in cave rescue training efforts. She appeared in the New York Grotto 2008 report for the Cave rescue Seminar and 2013 Orientation to Cave Rescue. In 2006 Kansas City Grotto mentioned her in the Orientation to Cave Rescue at Indiana University. Central Indiana Grotto enjoyed her demos in 2012 at the club's Vertical training. At the 2011 NSS Convention she presented "Atmospheric Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide Levels in Caves: What is Normal? Preliminary Results" with Anmar Mirza. And in 2005 she was involved in the Buckner's Cave clean-up project at Indiana University Bloomington. Deli's credentials in civilian life are impressive too! T
